Had You Always Suspected This, Too?

Howell Raines, ex-New York Times executive editor resigned in 2003 in the aftermath of the Jayson Blair scandal. Recently, Raines discussed his memoir: "The One That Got Away: A Memoir" at the Aspen Institute.

When one of the audience asked Raines about the role of media leaks, Raines offered some tantalizing, insiders' knowledge:

"Almost all leakers are lawyers. That's the bottom line."

He said "leakers," not whistleblowers. This description cannot be taken as a compliment to the lawyer element, regardless of dilution.
